I think I’ve found “the one”:

For many a year I’ve been on the hunt for MY ideal .22 rimfire rifle.

I’ve gone through a bunch of them, sold most. But guys I think this one’s a keeper.

This is my Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod Model 457 repeating bolt-actuated rimfire magazine rifle chambered to discharge 5,6mm x 15R smokeless powder metallic cartridges (.22LRs).

Guys, from the match adjustable trigger, Turkish walnut, weatherproof nitride, sleek balance, fast slick bolt, changeable barrels, and outstanding dependability and accuracy, it’s a “no brainer”.

Sure, it’s not as modern or tacticool as an S&W M&P-22, but I’ll bet you donuts to dineros it’ll outshoot it and it makes a fantastic plinker, small gamer, bencher, trailing piece, you name it.

I’ve got about one brick through it at this point on the road and it’s been one-hundred per-cent reliable and shoots better than me any day and twice a week and more than once on Sunday.

I’ve got it fitted with one of Leupold’s fine 3-9x40 telescopes set in Warnes, and it’s got a Montana brand carrying sling that I just love. It goes from hasty to stowage like that and looks good, too.

The stock of the piece features elegant French inspired chequering that provides a firm handhold in moisture. There’s also a comfortable recoil pad that helps “stick” the butt to the shoulder nicely.

Overall, I know I keep showing this Chechen beauty off, but don’t mind me.

Just how long is that barrel? Either an optical illusion or it looks to me like 28"?

It’s 24”. I find it attractive and with the sporter profile designed for hunting and field use it balances wonderfully. It also lessens the report and the gun is very quite with standard speed .22s.
